Description:

Nickel Titanate is a soft, pale yellow watercolour pigment with a cool, muted undertone. This pigment is known for its subtle, earthy quality, making it ideal for painting natural elements like sunlit landscapes, foliage, or sandy textures. It has a semi-opaque consistency, offering gentle coverage that allows underlying colours to slightly show through, adding depth to layered washes.

The colour leans towards a greenish-yellow, giving it a unique ability to mix beautifully with blues for natural, subdued greens or to soften vibrant yellows and oranges. Nickel Titanate is valued for its lightfastness and permanence, ensuring that it maintains its delicate tone over time. Its granulating texture adds a soft, organic quality to washes, making it a favourite for artists looking for a gentle, atmospheric pigment.

In watercolour painting, Nickel Titanate's versatility shines when you need a calm, cooling yellow that brings harmony to compositions without overwhelming the palette. It's a great choice for botanical illustrations, landscapes, and atmospheric effects, offering a more natural alternative to brighter, more intense yellows.

Nickel Tirenate, a beautiful, less acid, yellow.

I bought this on recommendation by my art tutor Michele Webber for my most recent work. I love the vibrancy of this lemon, and it's a great compromise between a Lemon Yellow, and a Cadmium. The consistency is wonderfully creamy, and it's such a beautifully bright lemon, without the acidity of the usual Lemon Yellow. Perfect for floral and botanical creations. Highly recommended.
