Description:

Dioxazine Violet is an intensely rich and highly saturated watercolour pigment with a deep, vibrant purple hue. Known for its bold, dramatic tone, this colour exudes a vivid, almost electric violet, making it perfect for capturing the intensity of twilight skies, vibrant floral elements, and powerful abstract compositions. Its deep blue-violet shade provides strong contrast and adds a striking, luxurious quality to any painting.

Highly transparent, Dioxazine Violet excels in glazing and layering, allowing artists to build up depth and create luminous effects. In its full strength, it offers a deep, velvety purple, and when diluted, it softens into lighter, more transparent lilac and lavender tones. Its smooth flow ensures that it spreads evenly across the paper, producing vibrant, saturated washes as well as delicate, nuanced transitions.

Dioxazine Violet has excellent lightfastness, maintaining its intense hue over time. It mixes well with other pigments, blending beautifully to create dark purples, rich blacks when mixed with blues, or interesting muted tones when combined with yellows or earth colours. This pigment is ideal for adding bold pops of colour, deep shadows, or rich highlights, offering versatility and dramatic impact in any watercolour palette.
